In a significant operation, Baramulla Police recovered approximately 1.7 kilograms of charas in the Chichilora area of Kunzer on March 24, 2026. This seizure underscores the police’s ongoing commitment to combat drug trafficking in the region.
During routine patrolling, officers intercepted a suspicious vehicle with the registration number HR55AD2930. Upon investigation, 27 grams of charas were recovered from the driver, identified as Waheed Sultan. Additionally, police discovered around 1.690 kilograms of charas powder at the residence of another suspect who managed to escape.
As a result of this operation, a case has been registered under FIR No.35/2026 at the Police Station Kunzer. The Baramulla Police have reiterated their determination to curb the drug menace, which has been a growing concern in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a separate incident, the Jammu and Kashmir Police also dealt with a potentially dangerous situation when a live artillery shell was found in the Kalgai forest area of Uri, near the Line of Control. A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team was promptly deployed to neutralize and dispose of the shell.
