Among the categories, Category I honors excellence in environmental management and planning, while Category II focuses on efforts that reduce costs, time, or effort in NASA projects. Category III acknowledges achievements in energy efficiency and water conservation, and Category IV recognizes innovation in site remediation technologies. Finally, Category V celebrates exceptional leadership in advancing environmentally responsible mission success.

In a related development, the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (Kufos) has unveiled a substantial budget of Rs 75.5 crore for the 2026–27 fiscal year. Kufos is set to introduce industry-led PhD programs tailored to blue economy sectors, aiming to enhance educational offerings in this vital area. The university also plans to establish a Centre of Excellence in Maritime Skills and Blue Economy, which will focus on developing expertise in sustainable maritime practices.

Additionally, Kufos will relaunch its MSc Marine Biology program with support from the Deep Ocean Mission, further emphasizing its commitment to marine education and research. As these initiatives unfold, observers are keen to see how they will impact both environmental management and the blue economy in the region. The integration of educational programs with industry needs is expected to foster innovation and sustainability in marine and fisheries sectors.
