New Integrated Terminal Opens in Guwahati

The new integrated terminal at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati commenced commercial operations on March 11, 2026. This development is expected to significantly enhance passenger handling capacity and improve operational efficiency, marking a pivotal moment for the region’s connectivity.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, emphasized the importance of this terminal, stating, “The terminal had been constructed with local participation and symbolised Assam’s growing role as a key gateway to the northeastern region and beyond.” This initiative reflects Assam’s ambition to strengthen its infrastructure and boost tourism.

Upcoming Sporting Events

In addition to infrastructural advancements, Guwahati is set to host sporting events, with the Rajasthan Royals scheduled to face the Chennai Super Kings in their opening match on March 30, 2026, at the ACA Stadium. The Royals will play a total of three home matches in Guwahati, further establishing the city as a hub for major sporting events.

Cultural Celebrations by the Guwahati Artists Guild

On the cultural front, the Guwahati Artists Guild has begun its golden jubilee celebrations, marking 50 years of contribution to the visual arts in Assam. An art exhibition titled “From the Land of Chitralekha” was inaugurated on March 9, 2026, showcasing the works of 32 women artists.
