Sohail Tanvir tests positive for COVID-19: The veteran Pakistani fast bowler’s participation in Lanka Premier League has become doubtful.
Veteran Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Tanvir has tested positive for COVID-19 a week ahead of participating in the inaugural Lanka Premier League 2020 in Sri Lanka.
Most recently, Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque, former captain and current selector Habibul Bashar, Canada batsman Ravinderpal Singh and former England pacer Kabir Ali have all been tested positive for coronavirus.
Much like Tanvir, Ravinderpal Singh and Kabir Ali were also slated for stints in the Lanka Premier League. Now replaced by former South Africa batsman Herschelle Gibbs who was in Sri Lanka to work as a commentator in the tournament, Kabir Ali was originally meant to coach Colombo Kings in LPL 2020.
Ravinderpal, on the other hand, was meant to represent Kings as an overseas batsman this season.

Both Tanvir and Ravinderpal have been isolated at a separate hotel room and are supposed to have not contacted anyone from the players and support staff before testing positive.
Tanvir, who had been called-up by Kandy Tuskers after Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz and England pacer Liam Plukett pulled out of the tournament, hasn’t been replaced as of now. Going ahead, it will be interesting to see if Tuskers name a replacement for Tanvir or wait for him to recover from COVID-19.

It is worth mentioning that Chennai Super Kings had waited for batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad and pacer Deepak Chahar to recover from the virus during the recently concluded 13th season of the Indian Premier League.
Tanvir, who had last played international cricket in the form of a T20I during the tour of West Indies more than three years ago, has taken part in T20 leagues such as the Pakistan Super League, Caribbean Premier League and the Bangladesh Premier League since then.
