TVS Orbiter V1 Electric Scooter Launches in India

On March 12, 2026, TVS Motor Company unveiled the Orbiter V1 electric scooter in Lucknow, India, marking a significant step towards making electric mobility more accessible to consumers. Priced at ₹49,999 under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, the Orbiter V1 aims to attract a wider audience to the electric vehicle market.

Without the BaaS model, the scooter is available for ₹84,500, which positions it as the most affordable option in the TVS electric vehicle portfolio. The Orbiter V1 is equipped with a 1.8 kWh battery that provides a certified IDC range of 86 km per charge, making it suitable for daily commuting.

Charging the scooter from 0 to 80% takes approximately two hours and 20 minutes, which is competitive in the current market. Additionally, the scooter features a 34-litre under-seat storage capacity, enhancing its practicality for urban riders.

The Orbiter V1 also includes modern technology such as a coloured LCD instrument cluster and a companion mobile app for connectivity, ensuring that users have access to essential information and features. Safety is prioritized with alerts for crashes, falls, theft, geo-fencing, and time-fencing.

The innovative BaaS model allows customers to subscribe to battery usage instead of making a large upfront payment. Monthly plans start at ₹862, making it easier for consumers to manage costs associated with electric vehicle ownership.

Gaurav Gupta, President of India 2W Business at TVS Motor Company, emphasized the importance of this launch in enhancing accessibility to electric mobility. He stated, “This launch is an important step in making electric mobility more accessible.”

Additionally, Aniruddha Haldar, Senior Vice President heading the Commuter and EV Business, noted that feedback from customers regarding the Orbiter V2 directly influenced the decision to introduce a more entry-level option.

The launch of the Orbiter V1 comes at a time when India’s electric two-wheeler market is experiencing rapid growth, indicating a shift in consumer preferences towards sustainable transportation solutions.

As the market evolves, further developments in electric mobility are anticipated, with companies like TVS leading the charge. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the long-term impact of the Orbiter V1 on the competitive landscape of electric scooters in India.
