Weather Jaipur: Significant Rainfall Transforms Conditions

On March 23, Jaipur witnessed a significant transformation in its weather as several areas experienced rainfall, shifting conditions from warm to pleasantly cool. This change is part of a broader weather pattern affecting much of India, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a nationwide alert for thunderstorms, rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds.

Rajasthan’s Chief Minister, Bhajanlal Sharma, responded to the situation by instructing district collectors to conduct immediate surveys to assess any crop damage resulting from the recent heavy rainfall. He emphasized the importance of supporting farmers, stating, “The prosperity of Rajasthan rests on the foundation of our farmer brothers and sisters. The state government stands firmly with you with complete sensitivity and responsibility.”

In addition to Jaipur, an ‘Orange Alert’ was issued for eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and parts of West Bengal due to anticipated thunderstorms and wind gusts. Meteorologist Akhil Shrivastava noted, “A large-scale thunderstorm activity is currently being witnessed across India,” indicating the widespread nature of the weather disturbances.

Rainfall activity has also been observed in other parts of Rajasthan, including Jodhpur, Bikaner, Barmer, and Shekhawati, where thunderstorms were recorded on March 22. The highest maximum temperature in the state was noted in Barmer at 35.2 degrees Celsius just a day prior to the rainfall.

In Delhi, the weather has also been impacted, with current temperatures dropping significantly. As of March 23, the temperature in Delhi was reported at 20 degrees Celsius, with a humidity level of 65% and wind speeds reaching 2 mph. However, this rainfall activity is expected to subside starting March 24.

Looking ahead, light rain and thunderstorms are anticipated to continue in the Shekhawati region on March 25, further influencing local weather patterns. The IMD’s forecasts suggest that while the immediate weather may stabilize, the potential for further disturbances remains.

As the situation develops, the focus will remain on assessing the impact of the rainfall on agriculture and local communities. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the extent of crop damage, but the government is prioritizing swift evaluations to support affected farmers.
