In a stunning display of skill and determination, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) women’s team won the WPL 2026 final against Delhi Capitals by six wickets, successfully chasing down a record target of 204 runs with just two balls to spare.
This victory marks RCB’s second title in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), further solidifying their position in women’s cricket. The chase of 204 runs is not only the highest ever in WPL history but also surpasses previous records in IPL finals, highlighting the remarkable achievement of the RCB team.
Smriti Mandhana was instrumental in RCB’s success, scoring an impressive 87 runs off 41 balls, while Georgia Voll contributed significantly with 79 runs from 54 balls. Despite an early loss of Grace Harris for just eight runs, RCB maintained their composure and executed their strategy effectively.
On the other hand, Jemimah Rodrigues led the charge for Delhi Capitals, scoring 57 runs off 37 balls. Chinelle Henry also made a notable contribution, finishing with 35 not out from just 15 balls. However, it was not enough to secure a victory, as Delhi Capitals continued their streak of finishing as runners-up in every edition of the WPL to date.
Dinesh Karthik praised RCB’s campaign, stating, “That was an unreal WPL FINALS. RCB were just too good throughout the tournament.” His sentiments were echoed by HD Kumaraswamy, who congratulated RCB on their achievement, saying, “Heartiest congratulations to @RCBTweets Women on winning the 2026 Women’s Premier League title and scripting yet another proud chapter in women’s cricket.”
Mithali Raj highlighted the leadership displayed by Mandhana, stating, “Big moments, big leaders. @mandhana_smriti stood tall on the biggest stage, with excellent support from Georgia Voll, as RCB Women clinched their second WPL crown.” Ashok Dinda also celebrated the win, affirming, “RCB are the champions of WPL 2026. They have won the title for the second time.”
This defeat continued Delhi Capitals’ streak of final losses, raising questions about their ability to clinch the title in future editions. As the WPL continues to grow in popularity and competitiveness, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how both teams evolve in the coming seasons.
