The Trent Rockets secured a decisive nine-wicket victory over Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred women’s competition at Edgbaston. The Phoenix were bowled out for just 64 runs from 95 balls, marking a challenging start to their campaign.
This total stands as the joint second-lowest in the history of the Women’s Hundred. The Phoenix also hold the record for the lowest total in the competition, having been dismissed for 54 against Northern Superchargers (now Sunrisers Leeds) in 2024. Oval Invincibles (now MI London) also recorded a total of 64 against the Superchargers in the same year.
Phoenix’s Batting Struggles
Ellyse Perry was the sole batter for Birmingham Phoenix to reach double figures, contributing 39 runs from 33 balls. Despite her efforts, no other player managed to score more than nine runs, highlighting the team’s batting difficulties. The conditions at Edgbaston proved challenging for batters, continuing a trend seen in the initial matches of the tournament.
The Phoenix‘s innings saw early wickets fall, including Davina Perrin, who was bowled for two runs, and Tammy Beaumont, who was caught at point for a duck. These early dismissals set the stage for a collapse, with Perry left to witness the unfolding chaos as her teammates struggled against the Rockets‘ bowling attack.

Lauren Filer took the sole wicket for Birmingham Phoenix, returning figures of 1-17. The rapid chase by the Rockets marked a record-breaking victory in terms of the fewest balls faced to complete a win in the competition. The result continues a trend of bowler dominance in the first four women’s matches of The Hundred, with London Spirit being bowled out for 80 and Southern Brave‘s 126 being the highest total defended so far.
