Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a teenage batting sensation from India, recently attended the Wimbledon 2026 men’s singles final at the iconic All England Club in London. The event saw Jannik Sinner defeat Alexander Zverev with a score of 6-7 (7), 7-6 (2), 6-3, 6-4 to claim his second Wimbledon title. Sooryavanshi, who made his India debut at 15 years and 99 days, was accompanied by fellow India opener Abhishek Sharma. Sooryavanshi explained, “I didn’t plan anything; whatever I could find at the last minute, I asked Abhishek and he got it arranged for me, and I just wore it.”
The young cricketer also light-heartedly chose Abhishek Sharma as his ideal doubles partner if he were to play tennis. He explained this choice by highlighting their strong partnership in international cricket, stating, “I will go with Abhishek bhaiya. He is my opening partner in international cricket. I really enjoy batting with him a lot, so I will choose him as my doubles tennis partner as well.”
Sooryavanshi’s visit to Wimbledon continued a notable presence of Indian cricketers at the championships. Earlier in the week, Sachin Tendulkar and Shubman Gill had also attended the men’s singles semi-finals.
