today's weather — IN news

A significant temperature shift is expected across the U.S. on May 2, 2026, as warmer conditions emerge following a cooler spell. Much of the country will experience a transition to a quieter spring weather pattern.

Temperatures will surge above average in many areas, particularly in the central Plains and Midwest, where highs will reach into the 70s and lower 80s. In contrast, the Northeast will remain cooler, with temperatures peaking in the 40s and 50s.

Regional Weather Conditions:

  • Florida will face scattered rain and thunderstorms as a cold front approaches.
  • The interior Rockies and Southwest can expect scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.
  • West Michigan’s temperatures will be notably lower, climbing only into the upper 40s to lower 50s—10-15 degrees below average.

In West Michigan, a chance for showers is forecasted for Sunday, with highs reaching the upper 50s. Tonight, temperatures are expected to drop into the middle 30s under a partly cloudy sky.

Meanwhile, Cyprus is experiencing its own weather fluctuations. Temperatures there are set to drop significantly before stabilizing through Monday and Tuesday. Localized rain and isolated storms are also anticipated in Cyprus over the weekend.

Officials have noted that strong winds may accompany these conditions, with snow and sleet possible in the Troodos mountains.
